Scala customers win awards for 'Best Implemented E-business Software'

Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2002

Two Scala customers in Indonesia have won their respective categories as 'Best Implemented E-business ' in a contest organised by Warta Ekonomi, one of Indonesia's top business magazines. Ace Hardware for the sector and Grundfos Pompa for manufacturing were cited for best IT practice in a competition that attracted entries from more than 370 companies.

The competition, which Warta Ekonomi hosts annually, emphasises the positive impact that software for e-business has made on a company's daily operations, and companies entering must have had at least 12 months' experience post implementation. This year, the initial research and survey produced a shortlist of 59 companies representing individual lines of business, including finance, retail, manufacturing, transportation and telecommunications.

"The Scala system supports our back-office operations and helps us control transactions," said Moch. Luthfi, IT Manager for Ace Indoritel Perkakas, PT, the Indonesian subsidiary of the US-based Ace Hardware Corporation. "With Scala software, we can co-ordinate our retail with our warehouses. By using an ERP solution, we can grow our business by minimising lost opportunities because of the speed of the back office operation support. Scala fulfils our requirements for a relatively small amount of investment."

"Scala is a good asset management tool, especially for a small or medium-sized company like us," said Iwan Dwi Irwanto, General Manager of Grundfos Pompa, the Indonesian subsidiary of the Danish-based Grundfos pump manufacturing group. "From our experience we can say that Scala gives us good internal control and it has a good access layer in the application. From a management point of view, Scala provides us with a good analytical tool for making sound business decisions."

Each company participating in the competition was assessed on customer value, process efficiency, tools selection, innovation, vendor management, human resources, and the overall management of information technology development within the organisation.

"The success of Scala's ERP software in this competition is indicative of the broad capabilities of the suite. Targeted at medium to large organisations, Scala brings the capabilities of a proven and effective collaborative ERP product within the reach of companies looking to extract greater value from their processes," comments Shamik Sinha, CEO of Scala Africa.

"Globally, companies are starting to realise the potential of being able to interact over the Internet, exchanging purchase orders, invoices, and checking stock levels with minimum human intervention. Scala's success in this competition cements its position as a solution that delivers effective e-Business capabilities with a realistic return of investment," concludes Sinha.
