Scala Business Solutions has signed an agreement with BT Wholesale to launch a vertical industry version of iScala 2.1, Scala's Collaborative ERP platform launched last May.
BT Wholesale, now a Scala solution partner and reseller of Scala's full product range, will use iScala 2.1 to create a collaborative ERP solution designed specifically for the telecommunications industry. BT Wholesale is part of the BT Group, one of Europe's leading providers of telecommunications services.
The product will primarily be sold and implemented in BT Wholesale's customer base, including medium-sized telecoms companies in the UK and UK subsidiaries of global telecoms enterprises. The deal confirms Scala's claim that the flexible iScala application provides the ideal foundation upon which to build collaborative ERP solutions for specific industry sectors.
"The relationship with BT demonstrates our ability to use iScala as a building block to develop ERP solutions for vertical market sectors," says Scala Africa CEO Shamik Sinha. "Scala has a track record of developing solutions specifically for vertical markets, which greatly reduces the risk of implementation of ERP software. With this new development, Scala is targeting a significant new market sector," he adds.
"As it is currently essential for telecommunication companies to maximise efficiency, we think that there is a great opportunity for ERP within the telecommunications industry, and BT Wholesale understands that improving internal processes is as important as selling straight telecommunications equipment," says Stuart Horwood, Managing Director, BT Wholesale Markets. "We chose to work with Scala because their software provides significantly improved total cost of ownership and it is very flexible, enabling us to create a tailored solution for our customers."
Building on the success of Scala's existing verticals, such as those for the hospitality and pharmaceutical industries, the new solution for the telecommunications industry in the UK will enable companies to provide a greater level of integration between different business functions such as finance, HR and logistics, thus making sizeable improvements in business efficiency.
Scala's worldwide partner network provides sales, deployment and integration services in more than 120 countries, offering customers a diverse range of benefits including business, application and technical skills for its collaborative ERP software.
BT Wholesale provides comprehensive network services within the UK to more than 500 communication companies, network operators and service providers, including other BT businesses: BT Retail, BT Ignite, and BTOpenworld. BT Wholesale seeks to build complete communications packages working with its customers to help them succeed in their businesses. For more information, visit www.btwholesale.com.
