SDD offers lightest mini-notebook with exceptional battery life

Johannesburg, 16 Oct 2001

Designed for the mobile professional who finds a notebook too cumbersome to lug around and a PDA too small to support the required information, Compaq's new Evo N200 is the lightest mini-notebook equipped with features comparable to a full-size notebook.

One of its most impressive attributes is its outstanding battery performance, adding a second lithium-ion battery, the N200 is able to hold power for an entire workday without recharging.

Weighing a mere 1kg, the N200 features the Ultra Low Voltage Intel Mobile Pentium III processor operating at 700MHz with SpeedStep technology, a crisp 10.4-inch TFT display, 20GB hard drive with 192MB SDRAM, dual battery support, an optional Mobile Expansion Unit (MEU) and compatibility with many Armada E and M series options.

Amanda Saurma-Jeltsch, Compaq product manager at SDD, adds: "The combination of mainstream computing features with a super lightweight design makes Compaq's Evo Notebook N200 the ultimate hardware for the mobile warrior."

The N200 is encased in magnesium to reduce the risk of damage to the system if dropped. Its outstanding battery life is guaranteed thanks to the optional dual battery support. The N200 is supplied standard with one lithium-ion polymer battery and an optional second battery is available for travellers who require up to eight hours of battery life.

Connectivity is enabled as the N200 supports a suite of WLAN, WWAN and Bluetooth PC Card solutions. "Unique to this mini-notebook, the Evo N200 provides an integrated mini-PCI modem/NIC combination allowing users complete hardware connectivity," she states. The optional mobile expansion unit provides MultiBay, which supports CD-ROM, DVD, CD-RW as well as an optional DVD/CD-RW combination drive.

For easy access to your favourite Internet sites, Compaq has provided a one-touch activation button. The Evo N200 is also pre-configured for e-mail and can be configured for special content regarding the Evo N200 and mobile computing. Support is also provided for many of the common options that are interchangeable across the core Evo Notebook line. Some of these accessories include MultiBay, power options and memory, monitors.

The N200 runs on Microsoft Windows 2000 because of the many integrated features it provides to enhance the mobile users experience. As with all Compaq products, the N200 comes with a one-year parts and labour warranty, which is extendable to three years.

Compaq's Evo N200 is available from SDD's dealer network throughout Southern Africa.
