A fibre cut on Seacom's undersea cable network, outside of Alexandria, Egypt, is responsible for the Internet problems experienced in SA since 5:30 this morning.
According to Seacom, the failure, on the SMW4 system, between Alexandria and Jedda, caused degradation in service across its network.
A statement issued by Seacom at 10:20am said: “Seacom is in the process of restoring client services and will report progress on the fault rectification.”
Estimated time of repair at that time was 2.5 hours.
