As part of its initiative to grow product knowledge and expertise among South African resellers, Seagate Software today announced it has established an authorisation programme here.
Nick van Noordwyk, regional manager responsible for network and storage management products at Seagate Software Africa commented, "our objective is to grow Seagate Software`s reseller channel and in doing so, provide end-users with a reliable and effective pre- and post-sales service."
Resellers wishing to acquire Seagate Software Authorised status are required to go through a training programme which addresses both sales and technical personnel. The other required prerequisites include the presence of at least one Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) and one Microsoft Certified Engineer (MSCE) in the permanent employment of the reseller. "The purpose of these stringent prerequisites is to ensure that the levels of support available to the users of our products remains consistently high," says van Noordwyk.
Van Noordwyk continues, "Seagate Software has been working very closely with a number of key reseller partners for some time to help them enhance their product knowledge and service levels for Seagate Software`s product ranges. On Monday, 12 May 1997, forty-five resellers in the South African channel enrolled for the authorisation programme."
With delegates coming from as far afield as Durban and Cape Town, van Noordwyk has met the goal of a country-wide support infrastructure. "The next stage," he explains, "is to authorise the organisations and provide them with an official Seagate Software Authorised Reseller plaque."
Elaborating further on the benefits of the project, van Noordwyk pointed out "We are confident that we can offer a high quality and wide-spread support network to our end users by working closely with our reseller partners. The channel is of paramount importance in our sales strategy. This is why we will continue to invest in projects which result in the growth of Seagate Software`s business through its channel partners."
