Seagate Software has entered into a technology partnership with data-protection specialist, Vinca Corporation, bringing the combined expertise of the two companies to bear in ensuring corporate information availability.
Nick van Noordwyk, regional manager, Middle East and Africa at Seagate Software, Network and Storage Management Group (NSMG), says the partnership supports Seagate Software`s new vision to provide comprehensive Enterprise Information Management solutions.
"The resulting development efforts are expected to provide an integrated system extending the ability to deliver information when, where and how users want it."
Seagate Software is employing Vinca`s storage technologies to deliver data accessibility, fault tolerance, reliability and increased control of the backup process. "Seagate Backup Exec provides such data protection for Windows NT and Novell NetWare," says van Noordwyk.
"Vinca has long demonstrated an ability to offer flexible technologies and an open architecture allowing the use of standard hardware for powerful high-availability solutions," he adds.
Frank Appunn, MD of SourceTech, Vinca`s distributor in sub-Saharan Africa, believes the corporate market has multiple concerns about these issues. "The partnership between Seagate Software and Vinca represents the convergence of backup and high-availability," he says.
