Customers of Biodata Westcon Security, the security arm of value-added distributors Westcon SA, will now have access to secure managed portable storage, authentication, and trusted virtual computing devices from IronKey.
As part of an agreement with the global security vendor, Biodata Westcon Security has been granted the official rights to distribute the IronKey range of security products and devices into the southern African market, with immediate effect.
“Security remains at the forefront of the IT agenda of companies the world over, however, the rise in mobile devices and the ever changing role of the mobile worker as well as the advent of cloud computing and virtualisation, has led to a need for more advanced mobile security solutions,” says Jan De Lange, managing director of Biodata Westcon Security.
“With its proven track record, working with some of the most demanding corporate companies, enterprises, governments and even military customers, we believe that the addition of the IronKey range to our portfolio will significantly bolster our ability to meet the local market's mobile security needs,” adds De Lange.
Based on the highest security, performance and privacy standards in the market today, IronKey offers a complete security solution that includes a range of multifunction security devices for mobile workers. The range extends right through from its secure USB flash drive IronKey Basic, to the IronKey Enterprise Virtual Desktop - a complete secure computer operating system in your pocket.
Powered by IronKey Enterprise Management software, the IronKey network-aware devices can be managed remotely by the IT department, assisting them with all their mobile data protection, financial malware protection, portable desktop virtualisation and disaster recovery needs.
“Virtualisation and cloud computing are no longer vapourware, they are a reality, and it is against this backdrop that businesses need security solutions that are able to assist them in their journey into the cloud, while still minimising security risks and threats that may hamper their progress,” adds De Lange.
IronKey, a privately held US company, assembles all of its products in accordance to rigorous security and quality standards. Its products are FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated and meet the stringent security requirements of the US Federal Government Cryptographic Module Validation Programme.
“The IronKey range is now available to our customers, partners and resellers and they can begin taking immediate advantage of training and product education programmes we have put together to highlight the benefits as well as the ease of use of the IronKey range,” ends De Lange.
