Axis Communications has released a pocket-sized wireless print server that supports 802.11b and g wireless networks, with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security.
Output is USB 2.0, compatible with any non-host-based printer [1]. The Axis OfficeBasic USB Wireless G Network Print Server delivers speed, security and flexibility in a 25 x 64 x 115mm package.
Roy Alves, Managing Director of SCS Distribution, exclusive distributor for Africa of Axis, said: "Concerns over eavesdropping have inhibited deployment of wireless printers where confidentiality is important.
"The OfficeBasic print server takes care of security, and allows simple and quick deployment of printers in changing environments, where network cabling is not available, or whenever temporary solutions are needed."
The server supports infrastructure and ad hoc modes, with ad hoc mode making for quick setup at exhibitions, registration desks, project meetings and the like.
Installation is made really easy with the Axis OBW Wizard for Windows or Bonjour/Rendezvous support for Mac. The firmware is upgradeable over the Web to help you protect your investment and keep up to date with printer developments.
