Secure your clients data with SMS

A much-overlooked form of security is one-time passwords; LogicSMS helps its customers utilise SMS and voice to secure their critical customer data.

Johannesburg, 09 Sep 2014

You have gone through the past year not having sent a single SMS, preferring to use a wide variety of chat apps? However, you probably would have noticed that you are still receiving many SMS messages. Although a percentage of these message are spam, for most people, the majority of SMS messages received are very relevant business messages.

These types of business SMS messages are called application-to-person SMS messages or A2P messages. These include messages for collecting money, meeting notifications, OTP (one time password) messages and many others.

"Every company should be immediately implementing OTP SMS messages," says DonMichaels Gunene head of Sales at LogicSMS.

We have all read about the celebrity hacking scandal that occurred during the past week. All technologists should take a good look at their own systems and ensure that every security measure available to them has been employed.

One highly effective measure is OTP messages or One Time Passwords. In our experience, OTP messages greatly increase security; therefore, if you have an Internet-facing site you should consider OTP messages. More and more companies are employing OTP messages as this is no longer just a necessity for banks.

LogicSMS has direct connections to all the South African networks and therefore can provide a fast, reliable and secure OTP system. The company classifies the OTP messages differently and gives them the highest priority on the system.

LogicSMS employs a large variety of OTP messaging solutions, although traditionally one expects an OTP to be an SMS. OTP messages can now also be a recorded voice message.

Finally, the OTP messaging solution can mitigate against companies having to send out large amounts of SMS messages, by employing an automated inbound call or SMS system to verify the users identity. A client wanting to perform a high-risk task on their Web site can now SMS or call a predefined number to unlock access to that high-risk task.

Talk to us now and be assured the person transacting with your Web site or portal is in fact the person who initially signed up.
