One of South Africa's leading technology distributors, Phoenix Software, is using its expertise and product set to help grow the next generation of technology users.

Partnering with Ma Afrika Tikkun, a national charity that focuses on providing a helping hand to the disadvantaged youth, Phoenix Software is providing software solutions to help simplify the computer education Ma Afrika Tikkun provides.

"At Phoenix Software, we believe everyone should have access to the digital environment,” says Simon Campbell-Young, CEO of Phoenix Software. “In fact, we believe that this is the only way to upskill the workforce of the future.”

Ma Afrika Tikkun has a countrywide computer learning programme for children and young adults, providing them with basic computer literacy, educational augmentation, as well as basic courses in skills such as design and desktop publishing.

"It takes a commitment from all South Africans to bring about a better future, but many don't have the opportunity to participate in that future due to their lack of access to technology. We are proud to be partnering with an organisation such as Ma Afrika Tikkun in order to help bring essential 21st century skills to the youth who will require them in order to become employable,” Campbell-Young says.

Phoenix Software will ensure that Ma Afrika Tikkun's computer centres offer a wide range of essential software - from educational programs such as Encyclopaedia Britannica and typing tutors, to basic business programs, to creative packages such as Sony Movie Studio, as well as security - to ensure that Ma Afrika Tikkun's computer centres provide all of the tools children and youth of all ages will require to become successful digital citizens.
