The SearchSecurity Web site says the Computing Technology Industry Association`s (CompTIA`s) Security+ certification appears to be changing the entry-level security certification landscape as it continues to attract strong interest and participation.
In its report on the vendor-neutral security certification landscape, SearchSecurity says Microsoft, Symantec and IBM have incorporated CompTIA`s Security+ into some of the certification programmes they offer.
The security information Web site says Security+ is also a recommended pre-certification for the Certified Wireless Security Professional credential and can substitute for one year of job experience for both the Certified Information Security Manager and the Certified Information Forensics Investigator certifications.
"In SA demand is outstripping supply and there is a shortage of qualified trainers to satisfy the need in the industry for Security+ training," says Loraine Vorster, regional director of CompTIA SA.
To help address the shortage of Security+ trainers, CompTIA SA is to host a Security+ "train-the-trainer" course in April with assistance from local security experts.
