The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium has announced its 2001 schedule for the certified information systems security professional (CISSP) certification examination in SA. The next examination will be offered on 20 October by Security Audit and Control Solutions (SACS).
SACS, a consultation and development company specialising in information security and risk management, recently introduced its training institute, SACS Training. Individuals wishing to sit for the examination are required to have at least three years experience in the information security field.
The six-hour examination consists of 250 multiple-choice questions addressing 10 domains:
* Access Control Systems and Methodology
* Telecommunications and Network Security
* Security Managements Practices
* Applications and Systems Development Security
* Cryptography
* Security Architecture and Models
* Operations Security
* Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery Planning
* Law, Investigations and Ethics Policy
* Physical Security
No affiliation with any organisation is required to sit for the examination. Re-certification is required at three-year intervals by earning 120 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. CPE credits are earned via lecturing, attending relevant seminars, publishing articles, etc.
SACS has developed a CISSP examination preparation workshop consisting of five days of instruction.
