Security upgrades are top priority
Upgrading security is the number one priority for enterprises this year, according to a new study by Forrester Research, reports ITPro.
According to the survey of 1 200 IT directors and managers across Europe, 56% of European enterprises will upgrade their security environment, and put business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities as their top priorities this year.
The survey also found smaller businesses add purchases of new computers, purchasing or upgrading business continuity capabilities, and consolidating the IT infrastructure ahead of security upgrades to their list of priorities.
How to ensure business continuity
Organisations need to ensure local and remote users have reliable and continuous access to business-critical applications and data residing on enterprise systems. Disruptions to this access can paralyse business operations, so it is critical to make preparations for coping with emergencies, reports DABCC.
Enterprise-wide server-based computing is secure, centrally managed and constantly available, which is important for any business continuity plan.
It minimises the number of IT vulnerabilities and enhances an organisation's resilience to a wide variety of disruptions like hurricanes, terror attacks, computer virus and power outages. Just as organisations would not consider operating without an insurance policy, so too implementing a business continuity and disaster recovery plan is as important, says the report.
