Sekunjalo announces board changes

Diversified holdings company Sekunjalo has announced changes to its board of directors, which take effect immediately.

Dr Iqbal Surv'e has tendered his resignation as executive chairman and executive director of the company.

"The board wishes to thank Dr Surv'e for his dedication, leadership and valued contribution and wish him well in his future endeavours," said Sekunjalo in a statement to shareholders today.

Professor Vukile Charles Mehana's status as a non-executive director will change from independent non-executive director to independent non-executive chairman of the company, while Salim Young's status as a non-executive director will change from lead independent non-executive to lead independent non-executive and deputy chairman of the company.

On Tuesday, Sekunjalo said it felt it was well positioned to enhance its earnings and bolster its and net asset value through organic growth, acquisitions and strategic initiatives.

The private equity company reported revenue of R620.5 million, up from last year's R569.2 million, while its gross profit grew to R194.3 million, from R178.5 million in 2013.

Profit attributable to equity holders rose to R96.8 million, from R29.7 million last year. Headline earnings per share went from 6.10c per share last year, to 16.03c per share this year.
