Self-serve kiosk streamlines dispensing
The self-serve PharmaTrust kiosks, in test mode at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, have served hundreds of people and almost 95% of those who inserted their prescription and health card into a machine got their medication in less than five minutes, according to a survey done by the company, says Metro News.
“Patients are intrigued by the fact that it is easy to use. It's quick and they don't have to drive somewhere and wait for the pharmacist,” said Dr Sharon Domb, director of family medicine at Sunnybrook, where the kiosks have been set up since January.
But as the idea grows, so do questions about how the technology will affect the business of pharmacy.
