Self-service kiosks for Visa

The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) unveiled the first self- kiosk and M-Visa reader at BurJuman centre, reports Khaleej Times.

DNRD staff will be present at the various malls to offer information and technical support to customers. The self-service kiosk is a multifunctional machine that allows residents to check the status of their Visa, print out their resident/visit Visa and Visa extension.

It also offers nationals the chance to apply for renewal of their passports, without having to visit the DNRD offices. Access to the machine can be obtained through insertion of the e-gate or national cards.

Consumer attitudes revealed

During an educational session at the KioskCom Self Service Expo in Las Vegas last week, attendees sampled exclusive results of consumer research that reveals what they like and dislike when using self-service, says Customer Experience.

The session, 'What self-service technology do customers really want?', moderated by Self-service and Kiosk Association executive director David Drain, focused on a study sponsored by the association and included in a new report, '2009 self-service consumer survey'.

Drain gave attendees a peek at some of the results of the study, including: When asked 'When being served as a customer, which of the following is most important to you,' 40% of respondents chose 'quality of service' as their number one concern.

Motally rolls out self-serve solution

San Francisco Motally has been slowly building its profile in the upcoming mobile analytics space, and counts ex M:Metric founder Seamus McAteer and former Com2Us exec Henry Yeh in its senior team, according to Mobile Entertainment.

The self-serve solution works on the basis that customers cut and paste a few lines of code into a common header or footer on a mobile site. Then, when a user requests a page, data is sent to a Motally server, which tracks, processes, and reports it.

This enables customers to track usage, maximise ROI, measure actual mobile advertising effectiveness and ultimately optimise product offerings.
