Konica Minolta South Africa (KMSA) will be launching the new bizhub C550 with InfoLine design. This new digital and colour MFP is the first in a series that boasts an innovative biometric finger vein authentication technology.
KMSA colour division manager, Marianna Gdanis, says keeping the office's network secure is becoming increasingly important for corporate organisations worldwide.
"Konica Minolta is constantly exploring new ways to protect confidential documents and manage the flow of work more efficiently. The new finger vein authentication takes this process to a new level of effectiveness," she says.
Finger vein authentication uses images of finger vein patterns captured by scanning the finger, and makes it almost impossible to falsify. Functionally, this authentication method is easy and fast, since there is no need to remember passwords or carry a card.
Additional security and management features include a box function that makes it easy to store and share information assets, and a department management feature helps users to manage costs by controlling C550 use by department. User authentication, biometric finger vein authentication and copy protection ensure that sensitive information and documents stay secure.
In addition to its security features, the bizhub C550 is equipped with advanced print, copy, scan, fax and other networking functions and its new tandem engine helps produce high-speed and high quality prints at 45 pages-per-minute (ppm) in colour and 55ppm in black and white. The Simitri HD toner ensures vivid colour documents and the machine has numerous finishing capabilities and output features, including booklet printing, and a wide range of paper compatibility.
Three core elements - communication technologies, open platform and design and engineering - the bizhub C550 brings innovative technologies, intelligent manufacturing and user-centred universal design to help offices work efficiently and productively.
The bizhub C550's intelligent communication technologies allow users to collaborate more effectively and the universal send function makes it possible to save data in a box, e-mail, or fax to multiple destinations at the same time with a single operation.
The ultra compact PDF compresses large, colour files for easy sending. In addition, the device features IPv6, the latest Internet protocol, and a 1000 BASE-T network interface to ensure seamless data handling and transmission.
The proprietary bizhub OP control system means the bizhub C550 offers easy customisation and integration with third party peripherals and applications. The standard Emperon print system allows it to print out documents from a variety of operating systems and PDLs on the network.
The Infoline design incorporates a signature white line that acts as an innate pathway for operational information as well as a design element. The bizhub C550 features several productivity enhancements that combine fine image control, an improved paper feed system and induction heating fixing.
