Desktop management specialist Serden Technologies, represented in South Africa by Bateleur Software, is now a Hewlett-Packard-certified technical and business partner.

Bateleur Software product manager Leon Bouwer says the closer relationship between HP and Serden Technologies means the Serden range of Interact ES workstation monitoring systems will offer benefits to South African customers operating HP environments.

Robin Canty, HP Developer & Solution Partner Programme, Europe, says: "Hewlett-Packard is proud to add Serden Technologies as a valued member."

The InterAct ES solution is based on the notion of usage measurement, operational quality of service measurement and configuration audit, and allows all the levels of the enterprise to measure and monitor their performance and plan effectively.

Interact ES, Serden`s End-User Quality of Service and Performance measurement software, now provides the HP client running HP/OV a real end-to-end system monitoring and performance degradation analysis solution.

Interact ES-RealTime also allows HP/OV clients to set up real proactive business service management. In addition, Interact ES Overtime software complements the HP/OV environment in order to define real specific business impacts of a critical problem and to show the End-User Quality of Service trends related to it.

"This development further strengthens our Serden offering in South Africa and helps our customers operate at optimum technological levels," Bouwer says. "InterAct ES is an intelligent decision-making suite which measures how applications are used and measures their quality of service on each desktop, delivering tangible benefits and cost savings to the customer."

Based in France, Benelux, Italy, the US and Canada, Serden Technologies` customers include National Grange Mutual, EDS, Rolls-Royce, Montreal Airport, Standard Life, EDF, Apec, Saretec, MMA and Credit Mutuel-CIC.

InterAct ES captures the actual end-user experience at the device level, be it workstation, PDA or laptop. It monitors hardware and software resources, and the usage thereof. For example, after InterAct ES identified licensed software installed on desktops which was never used, a Canadian bank was able to reduce licence costs for this package by 40%.

"This business-centric approach to monitoring and managing the components within the end-user devices bridges the gap between the business people managing an organisation`s lines of business and the IT personnel managing the facilities and operations of its infrastructure," Bouwer says. "By bridging the gap between the two perspectives, InterAct ES enables the IT organisation`s personnel to align their priorities with the organisation`s business objectives to keep end-users happy, productive and thus directly contribute to the health of the business."

Bateleur Software distributes a range of software products from selected business partners, all of which are complemented by the company`s comprehensive service offerings. These include technical expertise, DBA consulting, fine-tuning, networking, product customisation, and training.
