Saratoga Software has completed the development of its highly anticipated Shine Initiative.
The Shine Initiative is a DTI sponsored South African project to help mobilise service delivery by delivering an innovative field worker productivity suite for local government and utilities.
"The product only has to go through the final DTI tests which we are confident it will pass and we are currently looking for municipalities to pilot the project," according to Anthony Robinson, Saratoga's managing director.
The Shine Initiative attracted considerable interest when it was launched at the Technology in Local Government Conference in Johannesburg earlier this year. The Shine Initiative aims to create partnerships with organisations in the municipal and utilities markets to bring the vision of effective and efficient municipalities to fruition.
"We hope some of the industry players who showed interest at the conference come forward and partner with us to take these innovations to local governments throughout the country as it can make a real difference in increasing capacity and improving service delivery," says JB Maree, Saratoga's business development director.
Municipalities play a crucial role in service delivery in the South African society and need to use mobile technology to increase service delivery and help reduce crippling service backlogs. Utilising handheld devices, Shine will create a mobile solution for work order management, inventory management, meter management, meter reading, CRM, surveys, GPS mapping and intelligent reporting.
