SI takes the chore out of data back-up

Systems Integration (SI), one of South Africa's leading storage solutions providers, has introduced a unique and innovative called Monitoring Service (DPMS), a South African industry first. The service commences with immediate effect.

DPMS is managed by SI's call centre which monitors daily back-up procedures on behalf of the client to ensure it is successfully completed. If not, the client is alerted and any deviations are automatically escalated to three levels of management, in line with industry best practices.

Jack Ward, MD of Systems Integration, comments, "Depending on the size of the backup installation, the monthly cost is typically less than the cost of a company cell phone. The key benefit of DPMS is that IT professionals can rest assured that the tedious process of monitoring back-up logs is performed diligently and professionally every day, which allows for a high degree of restore certainty. Other benefits include fast and easy deployment and absolute data security. The client's data remains on-site and the backup process is monitored. In this way, data security is never compromised."

Ward continues, "DPMS is an inexpensive way for clients to ensure that their data is monitored every day. Data back-up is a tedious chore which needs to be diligently applied each day - continuity is as important as the process. For this reason, it is a function that can be easily overlooked, prone to errors and largely ignored. However, daily back-up is a vital process. In fact, it is probably the most important aspect of data storage."

"Many processes have become mission critical, even in the smallest IT environments. Data is increasingly being seen as mission critical, as a result of the exponential growth of data and the increasing importance placed on data," concludes Ward.

Systems Integration is an industry-leading storage integrator with a focus on high availability and mission-critical solutions in the open systems, networked environment. The company is uniquely positioned in the South African market to provide consulting, implementation and support of high availability, continuous processing storage architectures in the open systems enterprise environment.
