Business analytics and services provider SAS Institute said yesterday it has appointed Millicent Sibeko as the new HR manager of its South African office.

According to SAS, it has been using consultants ever since Elizabeth Croeser, the former HR manager, resigned to pursue personal interests last year. Sibeko will resume her duties with immediate effect, says the company.

Sibeko holds a post-graduate qualification in human resources, obtained during her early years in HR. She served tenures at Standard 's division, Mintek, and also Cadbury, which she describes as a memorable contributor to her foundational years as an HR practitioner. Sibeko also attained a Management Advancement Programme qualification from Wits.

She believes constant growth and investment in one's own skills provides a platform to better deliver on what is required in the workplace. She has a passion for empowering people through upliftment, skills development, performance and talent management, and coaching and mentorship.

Sibeko worked with SAS for four years prior to pursuing additional growth prospects elsewhere, where she spent two years before returning to the organisation. “Coming back to SAS has been a wonderful opportunity for me as it feels like I have come home,” says Sibeko.

“Working with SAS makes my job that much more enjoyable. The company has always been based on a performance-driven culture that offers flexibility in how one manages one's time and work life, and a host of additional employee benefits that incline towards work-life balance.”

She believes she can add value at SAS, and that her contribution will be important and supported. It's a place where one can really unlock one's strengths and capabilities, she adds.
