Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), the world`s leading eBusiness solutions provider, today announced that Siemens Business Services (SBS) is utilizing CA`s Unicenter TNG to proactively manage the systems and core applications comprising the IT infrastructure of EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Germany. Unicenter TNG is helping to ensure high availability of critical systems, applications and other enterprise resources, and automatically transfer critical to numerous on-site visitor information centres.

EXPO 2000 encompasses thousands of cultural activities and events, more than 50 pavilions of participating nations and a suite of large exhibition halls. In total, more than 170 countries and organizations from around the world are participating and presenting their ideas for the future at the extravaganza. The event is expected to draw more than 25 million visitors through the end of October 2000.

As an exclusive EXPO 2000 World for information technology, SBS is contributing to the success of the event by supplying key services, systems and other crucial IT components. It is also providing a wide range of technology-based solutions, including the EXPO`s visitor information system -- an accreditation system/ multimedia database for the media. SBS is also supplying an array of IT-related services, including an advanced User Help Desk.

The Data Transport Option (DTO) of Unicenter TNG is playing an especially important role by helping to distribute complex multimedia objects, such as pictures, audio files and videos, to PC and server systems networked to SBS` EXPO 2000 Visitor Information System. The Visitor Information System supplies an enormous volume of event related data to downstream information systems for visitors, the mass media, EXPO management, exhibitors and other event participants.

DTO is becoming the industry standard due to its ability to move large amounts of data from one location to another so customers, employees and decision makers have the latest information via the quickest and most efficient means available. This is accomplished through state-of-the-art intelligent data routing, bandwidth optimisation, advanced compression, robust encryption, and an easy to administer centralized management console.

Unicenter TNG is also delivering a full complement of enterprise management functionality to maximize system uptime and further enhance the performance of heterogeneous enterprise operations. SBS` IT professionals are using the software to conveniently recognize device thresholds and set system policies to reduce the number of critical alarms experienced. Using CA`s advanced eBusiness management technology, service teams will be able to detect and resolve problems before show participants or Internet visitors ever experience operational difficulties.
