
Siemens UCC gets social networking
Siemens has commissioned a study that found the vast majority of employees and consumers prefer to use social networking for business communications, states Network World.
The study also found that although 70% of consumers want to interact via social media, only 30% of companies are ready for it with a formal social networking policy.
Siemens Communications has released OpenScape Fusion Social Media Integration, which is designed to integrate public and corporate social media tools into unified communications and collaboration solutions provided by the company.
OlivePad to debut in India
Olive Telecom has unveiled the OlivePad, India's first 3G Android tablet expected to be released in August, reports Fone Arena.
Arun Khanna, chairman of Olive Telecom, says: “It is a true convergence device that brings together the computer, mobile phone and entertainment on one platform.”
Olive Telecom says it will roll out more convergent devices in India and across the world following interest from telco operators in the markets of central Europe, eastern Europe, and Russia.
4G LTE network planned in US
Private-equity firm Harbinger Capital Partners is set to roll out a 4G LTE wireless network called LightSquared in the US, says TMCnet.
The company will offer landline and satellite-based voice and data service in the second half of 2011, which it claims will cover 92% of the US population by 2015.
Nokia Siemens Networks has signed an eight-year agreement valued at more than $7 billion to provide network design, equipment manufacturing and installation, and network operations and maintenance.
