Siemens VOIP solution deployed in mission-critical business

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2002

Siemens Information and Communications Group, in a joint venture with Telkom, has secured a R7 million contract for the upgrade and roll-out of Med Clinic's telephony systems. JSE-listed Medi Clinic is a market leader in the private hospital industry.

In terms of the project, Siemens Enterprise Solutions will install its Hicom 300H communication servers for 12 hospitals countrywide. Roll-out will start with installations at the Louis Leipoldt Medi Clinic and Constantiaberg Medi Clinic in the Western Cape. These two hospitals will form the foundation for setting a technical specification for all the Medi Clinic hospitals that will use the Hicom 300H as their main communications platform. Roll-out will thereafter continue nationally.

Siemens Hicom systems feature state-of-the art technology and offers mobility, voice over IP (VOIP), centralised database management, digital communication to the desktop, video conferencing, as well as a host of new features that enable users to communicate efficiently and professionally with their customers.

Siemens is rolling out HiPath, its enterprise convergence architecture, which makes options available to companies for the continued development of its communication infrastructure, with the aim of a greater value creation and a faster return on investment.
