Sierra Wireless kills CradlePoint deal
Canadian wireless communications equipment designer and manufacturer Sierra Wireless has terminated its planned purchase of US wireless networking technology company CradlePoint, saying a closing condition of the deal was not met, reports The Canadian Press.
Sierra announced in April its plan to buy CradlePoint in a $30.2 million cash and stock deal, to expand its reach into mobile broadband networking.
On Monday, Vancouver-based Sierra said it expects to book $700 000 in expenses related to the deal in the second quarter of 2008.
Linksys' wireless router targets homes
Cisco subsidiary Linksys has introduced a new wireless router tailored to the needs of home digital media content especially high-definition video, states Network World.
The WRT610N is a simultaneous dual-N band wireless router that operates in both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz spectrums.
Users can connect entertainment-oriented devices, such as a media centre extenders, audio players or personal video recorders via the wider 5GHz band.
Sangoma acquires Paraxip
Sangoma Technologies, a provider of PC-based hardware and software for networking and telecom services, says it has agreed to acquire Paraxip Technologies for $4.8 million, says The Canadian Press.
The price tag includes $1.9 million in cash and 2.3 million Sangoma common shares, the Toronto company said Monday.
Paraxip, a five-year old company based in Montreal, develops IP connectivity software and has customers which include IBM, Genesys, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent, First Data and the State of California.
