Siltek Telecoms has signed an agreement with Qualitel Transmission and the Taiwan-based vendor, Kingtel, to distribute its range of analogue telephones locally.

According to Michael Aitken, MD of Siltek Telecoms, the phones will be available at a 20-25% reduction of their current market value. "We are committed to keeping the prices down, without any sacrifice to the quality," he explains.

"Our aim is to eliminate the current 30% dead-on-arrivals," states Willie Stols, manager of the Carrier division at Siltek Telecoms. "All phones will be tested locally before delivery, thus ensuring a high standard of quality."

The basic model of the range, SLT925 is an affordable and functional unit. Among its list of features, the SLT925 has last number redial, flash, and is tone/pulse switchable. The SLT926 model has all the basic features with added full hands free facility. The 933 model has all the basic features, as well as a handsfree speaker, LCD display, 20 number memory, a time and date display, a review of the last 10 dialed numbers, and is hearing aid compatible. Message waiting indication will be a optional feature on all the models.

Under the agreement, Siltek Telecoms will work in conjunction with Qualitel Transmission, who will be responsible for local support and quality control. In addition to standardising quality and reducing price, Siltek Telecoms is involved in ongoing research and development to fully incorporate all PABX message-waiting standards onto a single phone. The distributor has also implemented a training scheme for its resellers to ensure a current and high level of product knowledge. In addition, the range of Kingtel phones is covered by a one-year material and workmanship guarantee.

Siltek Telecoms is a specialist telecommunications distributor within the Siltek IT Supply Chain Group, and has agreements with some of the world's leading vendors. It is the master distributor for Lucent Technologies' range of products and Active Voice Corporation's portfolio of PC-based voice processing systems and Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) solutions.
