Silver Lake invests in Nobao

Silver Lake has made an investment in Shanghai-based Nobao Renewable Energy Holdings, a provider of energy-efficiency technologies, in a deal a person familiar with the matter says was worth around $100 million, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The private-equity firm is taking a minority stake in Nobao and the deal is Silver Lake's first investment in China's clean-technology sector, the person says. Silver Lake, which has around $14 billion in assets under management, didn't provide the size of its stake in the Shanghai company, which develops geothermal technology to power heating, cooling and hot water supply systems in buildings.

"Nobao Renewable Energy is China's industry leader in geothermal technologies," says Silver Lake MD Eric Chen.

Caringo puts SMEs on cloud
