As organisations are increasingly looking to expand their operational footprint, one area of concern is often communications - not only when it comes to cost, but reach as well. This is when it becomes absolutely critical for these companies to understand the true extent of their service provider`s footprint, as this in itself could lead to hidden costs.
"Communicating between a head office and various global branches can become very expensive and complicated," says Mark Hamburger, head of VPN at Internet Solutions. "When companies get locked into contracts with service providers that have limited reach, they either face hidden communication costs, or have to deal with several network providers or telcos taking their focus away from their income generating activities."
Internet Solutions` International VPN solutions are delivered with high-quality via fibre-optic connectivity, to ensure low latency. "Our use of shared infrastructure, fibre backbone network and technologies such as Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), make it possible for us to effectively manage the quality of service provided to each customer," says Hamburger.
Internet Solutions has significantly extended its international footprint over the past six years, which allows clients to deal with a single service provider. "This has been done through a combination of IS owned and managed points of presence (POPs) and solid relationships and agreements with key international partners," says Hamburger. "IS currently has six international POPs, which is in line with the international trend of establishing a limited number of primary points of presence and supplementing that by providing connectivity through international partners." The international IS nodes include London, New York, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Germany.
IS currently offers MPLS services into approximately 110 countries around the globe. All international VPN services are delivered seamlessly with IS providing the single point of contact for the customer.
