The State IT Agency (SITA) will not award SA's largest open source tender until 14 February, after delays due to unexpected time spent on technical evaluation.
The office suite tender, OSS Solutions for Workstations, was due to be awarded on 31 January.
A procurement specialist within SITA says the technical evaluation took longer than expected, but this was necessary in order to present a comprehensive report to the Supplier Selection Board (SSB).
The SSB will now hear evaluation reports on 6 February, he says.
Recommendations will then be sent to the Supplier Selection Authority, which will meet and announce the successful company on 14 February.
Project manager Wynand Swart earlier told ITWeb that technical evaluation accounted for 45% of the total assessment criteria.
SITA declined to comment further on details concerning the value of the tender or the number of vendors competing.
