Sithabile sets pace for storage industry skills

Johannesburg, 26 Sep 2005

Sithabile Storage Integration (SSI), the specialist data storage solutions and integration company in the black-owned Sithabile Technology Group, has further extended its leadership in the depth and breadth of skills offered by its engineering team by successfully completing a number of international certification courses offered by two of the world's leading suppliers of data storage technology.

Rob Abrams, STG technical manager, confirmed that seven engineers in the team had successfully completed international certification examinations set by QLogic, the proven leader in storage network connectivity based on host bus adapters (HBAs), fabric switches and management software that form the backbone of storage networks.

"All seven candidates achieved the highest possible scores to further reinforce SSI's status as one of the most skilled organisations in QLogic's Signature Partner programme in the EMEA region," he said.

Syd Virdi, QLogic distribution sales manager for EMEA, said the clean sweep of passes with distinctions by the SSI engineering team was further vindication of the corporation's recent decision to appoint the Sithabile Technology Group as a strategic partner in SA.

"Skills at the level achieved by SSI are critical for the successful implementation of mission-critical data storage solutions and offer unrivalled benefit to end-user customers in terms of successful implementation, reliability and on-going technical support," he said.

Abrams also confirmed that four engineers in the group had met stringent international qualification criteria set by Symantec for the corporation's full suite of the VERITAS Software storage management solutions.

"Successful re-certification of four SSI engineers, with a combined total of more than two decades of experience in supporting VERITAS data storage management solutions in corporate and enterprise environments, ranks the company as one of the leading VERITAS Elite Partners in the country," he added.

SSI CEO Pieter Engelbrecht said the QLogic and VERITAS certifications added to an impressive list of several other formal industry qualifications and skills sets that are part of the company's unique positioning in the data storage and integration field.
