SmartForce is delivering e-Learning solutions and workshops that incorporate the latest advances in Internet technology to its customers.
It has teamed up with WebEx, a company that powers interactive multimedia communications on the Web, to combine WebEx`s interactive communications services with its own e-Learning environment so as to create new forms of learning events.
"This agreement is in line with our commitment to provide our customers with the tools they need to create learning events tailored to their particular learning requirements," says Milton Goldschmidt, MD of Smartforce Africa.
As part of the relationship, WebEx`s communications platform will power SmartForce`s new e-Learning workshops. These workshops feature a variety of interactive capabilities, including streaming media, document and application sharing, real-time software demonstrations, remote application control, white-boarding, integrated teleconferencing and live interactive sessions with other students and faculty over the Internet to create a fully collaborative and supportive environment for learners.
Workshop leaders can also demonstrate key software features by `taking control` of a learner`s desktop, and take participants on guided Web tours.
"The addition of interactive workshops is an example of how we use the power of the Internet to push the boundaries of the learning industry, and in a way that furthers students` learning and enterprises` business goals," says Goldschmidt. "By leveraging the latest Internet technologies, we can provide our customers with the most effective ways to deliver learning to their employees and business partners. "
Led by subject matter experts, the workshops are targeted towards smaller groups that can benefit from robust collaboration. Participants interact directly with expert presenters and other attendees by asking questions and engaging in conversations.
Learners can access the workshops via the SmartForce e-Learning Event Centre at www.smartforce.com, which gathers events, including SmartSeminars, interviews, expert-led chats and the workshops. Users can view events based on their customised profile, see their attendance record, and compile their own collections of favourite events.
"We believe this capability solidifies SmartForce`s position as the only completely integrated e-Learning solution provider in the marketplace. This is more than just web-based training courseware - learners can immerse themselves in a completely connected and modular learning environment," Goldschmidt says.
He adds that WebEx solutions are available from SmartForce, a reseller of WebEx`s communications services. "These services give customers flexibility in creating customised e-Learning events, such as seminars, meetings, workshops and discussion groups, which can be integrated with other components of SmartForce`s e-Learning solutions.
