Following its appointment as the only local Legato Premier Enterprise Solutions Partner, specialist data storage solutions company within the MB Technologies group, Smart Storage Technologies (SmartStor) has completed its first level of Legato accreditation, Information Protection.
The data storage solution organisation, which focuses strongly on open systems storage, will also complete the Application Availability and Management training before the end of this quarter.
Says Penny Wright, channel development manager at Legato: "Legato is 100% channel-focused, as our products are only available to customers through our appointed partners. As a Premier Enterprise Solutions Partner, SmartStor has to meet a number of commitments, including in-depth training and the provision of full services around our products.
"The accreditations that SmartStor is currently gaining means that we can position the company as a skilled, reliable partner for the development and implementation of Legato solutions," Wright explains. "Ultimately, Legato is focused on adding value. We believe that by fulfilling our customers needs for skilled partners, we can assist them in avoiding price-based partner selections, where the reseller operates on margins too tight to provide much-needed support and services."
Says Vaughan Beattie, strategic business development manager at SmartStor: "It is a great accolade for SmartStor to have been appointed as a Legato partner of this level and forms part of our strategy to provide customers with the highest level of technical expertise. With seven accredited engineers at this stage, we are already demonstrating our commitment to providing quality support and service to the enterprise market."
SmartStor was also involved in the Legato Solutions Showcase, which took place in Johannesburg and Cape Town from 6 to 8 August 2002. The events concentrated on key business issues and solving the challenges of managing and protecting both data and applications with Legato's offerings.
