SMC Enterprise showcases at Govtech 2007

In its second year running, GovTech was initiated to provide a platform to facilitate interaction between public sector ICT stakeholders and private industry ICT leaders.

According to Noedine Isaacs-Mpulo, the State IT Agency's chief of business operations, the goal in organising GovTech is to assist in identifying how ICT can contribute to better public service delivery. The conference provides the platform for sharing ideas and strategies among members of the ICT industry.

"ICT is a key enabler in the public service delivery programme and GovTech provides a great opportunity to join industry leaders in mapping out strategies for the road to an e-government," says Junaid Osman, Business Development Manager at SMC Enterprise. SMC Enterprise has exhibited for the second year at the annual Govtech conference showcasing its ICT offerings. The company has a track record of delivering ICT solutions to the public sector, including the City of Cape Town, Western Cape Provincial Government and National and Provincial Parliaments, among others.

In addition to the exhibition, track sessions were held at GovTech 2007 with the theme "Transformation Through Technology Together". The four main issues addressed at this year's conference were transformation in government ICT, sourcing and delivery models, applicable technologies and pertinent trends, and vertical government initiatives. The track sessions provided insight into government's strategies and goals for the evolution of public service delivery.
