Softline COO Steven Cohen has been appointed MD of accounting and payroll software company Softline Pastel, replacing Terry Kier who resigned for what the company says are personal reasons.
Cohen is to retain his position at Softline, but his major focus will be on managing Pastel.
"My task is to take Pastel to the next level and ensure that we build our position as a market leader in small and medium enterprise accounting, payroll and business software both locally and internationally," he says.
Cohen, Ivan Epstein and Alan Osrin co-founded Softline in 1988. In 1999 the group acquired Pastel, which was founded in 1987.
Pastel, which has a user base of more than 160 000 worldwide, is headquartered in Johannesburg.
Cohen says Kier "re-energised" Pastel when he took charge two years ago. "He played an important role in transforming Pastel from an owner-managed business and integrating it into the Softline Group, laying a solid foundation for the future."
Epstein, who is Softline`s CEO, is to assume increased operational responsibility for the group`s North American and Australian operations.
