Software AG, AmberPoint announce seamless SOA design to run-time governance

Johannesburg, 29 May 2006

Software AG and AmberPoint have announced that AmberPoint's service-oriented architecture (SOA) management software will be integrated with Software AG's crossvision SOA suite.

Devon Dalbock, Director of Software AG South Africa, says the two organisations will enable companies to reduce the complexity of enterprise-class SOA governance by providing seamless solutions from initial design through to run-time management.

The integration between Software AG's crossvision and AmberPoint provides a continuous bridge between human-to-human business processes, the design and construction of service-based applications and the enforcement of governance policies at service runtime. Organisations are thereby better able to combine human and information resources to solve business problems - and at the same effectively address compliance mandates.

"In order to face the demands of an increasingly globalised competitive landscape, companies must be able to maximise the effectiveness of people, processes and information while ensuring compliance with differing international regulations," Dalbock says. "The integration of AmberPoint's SOA management software and Software AG's crossvision gives organisations a competitive advantage in this evolving and highly challenging environment."

Paul Butterworth, AmberPoint CTO, comments: "The integration of AmberPoint with Software AG's crossvision provides a unique combination of elements to bring both services and business processes together under the umbrella of a strong approach to SOA governance. We look forward to working together for the long-term benefit of our mutual enterprise customers around the world."

Through Software AG's crossvision Service Orchestrator, AmberPoint will automatically discover services recorded in CentraSite, an SOA registry and repository jointly developed by Software AG and Fujitsu. This enables the comprehensive management of all enterprise services.

In addition, CentraSite will automatically receive updates with changes of services and the corresponding endpoints in any SOA landscape - such as new virtual services, policies and services discovered during runtime - thus eliminating manual changes of service meta-data and descriptions in order to reflect the actual state of the SOA landscape.

AmberPoint and CentraSite will also exchange policy information. This allows policies referenced in CentraSite to be enforced at runtime and new policies and policy changes made by Amberpoint to be posted to CentraSite. This process ensures effective end-to-end policy-management capabilities all the way from development and deployment to runtime enforcement.

The crossvision suite provides for a complete lifecycle of SOA applications and includes application composition, business process management, legacy system integration and service orchestration. By integrating AmberPoint, runtime management is seamlessly provided with the rest of the crossvision SOA lifecycle.
