The second generation of CentraSite, the award-winning joint service-oriented architecture (SOA) solution from Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation and Software AG, offers greater visibility and provides improved analysis and control of SOA resources and activities.
So said Software AG South Africa director, Devon Dalbock, who pointed out that the newly released version, CentraSite Enterprise Edition, provides a UDDI v3.0 search using predefined metadata models; a JAXR interface with subscribe and notification capabilities; WebDAV access to the SOA repository; predefined reporting modules; and both an AJAX interface and the Eclipse Registry Browser.
He added that it also provides an extensible meta-data model for the definition of customer-specific SOA artefacts; and - importantly for potential users - is available as a standalone product.
For Dalbock, one of the key features of CentraSite is that it offers maximum management and governance of an organisation's SOA by providing a central repository of SOA metadata, along with analysis of this data and the ability to incorporate centralised policies. This level of visibility and analysis enables organisations to minimise the risk of business disruption associated with transitioning their infrastructures to an SOA, he said.
"Successfully managing and governing SOA assets is a critical step in the maturation of an SOA portfolio. Organisations that are going through the SOA maturity cycle will use governance as a critical success factor," he explained.
"CentraSite creates an environment for improved governance by enabling organisations to store, track, and analyse processes and their underlying services, including interdependencies, resulting in greater business agility and cost-effectiveness.
"It has been designed for complete loosely coupled integration with Fujitsu Interstage Suite, Software AG's crossvision SOA suite, and solutions from other top-tier SOA solution providers. The new AJAX-based user interface, powered by Software AG's crossvision Application Composer, makes it easier for business users to implement the services required to solve their specific issues. Also new is an Eclipse-based plug-in that helps developers to easily integrate with existing Eclipse-based development environments.
"Organisations are now beginning to move from enabling their SOA infrastructures to fully deploying and controlling them. Fujitsu and Software AG have also launched the CentraSite Community, the first standards-based SOA forum. It offers a UDDI v3.0 search using predefined metadata models and predefined reporting modules, and both an AJAX-based interface and the Eclipse Registry Browser.
