Software AG's full Legacy Integrator family for SAP NetWeaver, which includes the XI Adapter for EntireX and XI Adapter for Natural, has been certified by SAP to allow customers to transparently link legacy applications into SAP NetWeaver open integration and application platforms.
This comes hot on the heels of Software AG's acquisition earlier this year of integration technology specialist, Sabratec.
According to Software AG (South Africa) director, Devon Dalbock, the certification represents another major step in implementing the company's legacy modernisation strategy.
"Software AG's objective is to fully address the integration requirements of companies with legacy investments and we are actively providing organisations with an evolutionary integration approach that builds upon the principles of a service-oriented architecture," he said.
"Thanks to SAP's certification of the Software AG adapters, SAP NetWeaver customers can now benefit from our legacy integration capabilities and experience.
"The first adapters are already available and provide bi-directional integration of 3GL applications, including those in Software AG Natural, COBOL, PL/1 and RPG.
"Software AG's XI Adapters offer fast integration of existing legacy applications and acceleration of business processes through real-time data exchange. They can fully leverage applications running on mainframes, iSeries or UNIX systems, incorporating them into SAP XI.
"Software AG will continue to develop XI Adapters in order to integrate other legacy systems into SAP XI, incorporating its recently acquired server-based integration technology," Dalbock said.
