PC vendor Acer SA grew its market share to 22.3% in the second quarter of this year, maintaining its overall second position in the market.
This represented year-on-year growth of 25.8%, according to research by IDC/Dataquest.
"Acer SA achieved pleasing figures in the second quarter of 2004, performing particularly well in the retail and SME (small to medium enterprise) business sectors," says Acer SA`s MD, David Drummond.
"We have gained considerable ground in both the notebook and desktop arenas."
Drummond says the growth is expected to continue, with new products to be launched in the fourth quarter.
Acer increased second-quarter unit sales by 60% in its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
It recorded an annual year-on-year growth rate of 68.6% in the notebook segment, securing the leadership position in the EMEA region, with a market share of 16%.
