Solid results for fiscal 2004

Oracle EMEA highlights innovative products and services as key drivers for growth in year ahead. Landmark year of innovation in information management sees Oracle Grid Computing set to help customers realise greater value from technology
Johannesburg, 02 Jul 2004

With performance for fiscal year 2004 demonstrating solid growth, Oracle Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) looks forward to fiscal 2005 with an unparalleled portfolio of innovative offerings that help customers derive more value from their information assets, and reduce costs.

Throughout fiscal 2004, Oracle demonstrated continued momentum across key industry sectors and public institutions in the region as organisations selected Oracle offerings, over those of its competitors, to automate business processes and to consolidate and simplify IT infrastructures for greater efficiencies.

"We are pleased to see strong performance in the region over the last year, with revenues up 13% to $3.7 billion year on year and up 13% to $1.1 billion in Q4," said Sergio Giacoletto, Executive Vice-President, Oracle Europe, Middle East and Africa. "With the economy gently picking up in most of EMEA, our innovative products and services such as Oracle Grid technologies, wireless solutions and Oracle Sensor-Based Services will help organisations pursue their growth strategies using superior information management and business intelligence tools."

Giacoletto added: "Another advantage unique to this region is the opportunity for growth in the 10 new member states of the European Union, who are putting in place the latest infrastructure to drive the accelerated development of their economies. We are investing to increase the innovation output from Europe, with the opening of expertise centres in Prague, Warsaw, Budapest and Bucharest, with varying remits to design and build mobile applications and develop business intelligence solutions supporting our customers and partners.

Oracle EMEA`s success was recognised in the many prestigious awards received throughout fiscal 2004 including Most Innovative Foreign IT Company (Poland); Best Enterprise Database (Germany); Best Application Solution (Spain); and Best in E-Government (Bahrain).
