Solit, the Pretoria-based e-business and enterprise software developer and implementer, and ApplyIT, the Durban-based provider of niche manufacturing solutions, have announced a partnership focused on the process manufacturing market.
The partnership will create significant benefits for companies active in process manufacturing, due to the synergies between the organisations. This will result in a more comprehensive offering to clients.
The synergies include complementary product offerings, improved countrywide support and a significant product development and integration capability. "Our partnership will ensure that our products remain relevant to a rapidly changing environment, providing us with direct access to best practice, manufacturing knowledge and expertise," says Gavin Halse, MD of ApplyIT.
Solit's recent partnership with Japan's NEC Corporation, in terms of which it was appointed as the sole distributor for NEC's FlexProcess ERP suite in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), has confirmed its global capabilities in process manufacturing, and resulted in a solutions portfolio specific to this market.
ApplyIT evolved out of the IT division of chemical manufacturing group AECI and is wholly owned by biotechnology company SA Bioproducts. This emphasises ApplyIT's experience in, and knowledge of, the process manufacturing environment.
Solit's strengths in Web-based solutions, as evinced in its Tilos portfolio of e-business components, are complementary to ApplyIT's Aurora product suite, which focuses on the areas of plant maintenance, plant operations management and SHEQ (safety, health, environment and quality).
A common technology platform and product development capability allow for rapid, high-quality application integration and development.
"We intend to cater for the full spectrum of IT requirements and provide an integrated solution to all process manufacturing companies," says Solit MD Louis Nortje. In return, ApplyIT's Aurora product suite is synergistic to Solit's e-business and FlexProcess offering. "With this partnership we are well positioned to provide the process manufacturing community with a one-stop business management solution," Nortje adds.
The strategy to provide both organisations' world-class software, developed in SA, to the global market is facilitated through Solit's existing presence in EMEA, and through several distributor agreements with companies such as Obtech in the Asia Pacific region.
Process manufacturing clients in KwaZulu-Natal will also benefit from ApplyIT's offices in Durban, where its product development and implementation team are based.
The newly forged partnership between two of the country's most focused IT companies in process manufacturing will ensure that maximum value is unlocked for clients in this sector.
