The implementation of IMPACT Encore, the ERP system from leading South African software house Syspro, will enable JSE-listed Sondor Industries to significantly increase its competitive edge.
Information systems manager Carla Venter says the company plans to implement three new modules of the system in the future. "These modules will considerably reduce our manual processes and enhance our customer service," she says. "We are confident that this will result in a tangible contribution towards increasing our competitive edge in the marketplace."
The three modules are IMPACT's Work in Progress, Product Configurator and Blanket Sales Orders and Releases.
"We are particularly excited about Product Configurator, as we manufacture numerous products which are merely slight variations of a parent product. IMPACT Encore's Product Configurator Module (PCM) is the only system which can handle complex combinations of style, size and colour," she says.
"In addition, Blanket Sales Orders and Releases will facilitate accurate tracking of our 'call offs' from motor industry customers."
Sondor Industries is South Africa's leading manufacturer and converter of expanded foam plastics and rubbers. The company maintains its leadership position through ongoing research and the use of international technology.
The decision to implement IMPACT Encore was based on the fact that the package best met Sondor's needs in terms of accounting, manufacturing and distribution. The stable support structure of Syspro's dealer network and IMPACT's short implementation time were contributing factors. The system was implemented by Computer Support.
Sondor had experienced substantial growth and needed an accurate, stable accounting system to accommodate its manufacturing and distribution processes. The system had to provide real-time access and transfer of data between the company's head office in Cape Town and its branches in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
"IMPACT Encore met our requirements without any customisation," Venter says.
