IVI TV sued for copyright

Broadcasters Fox, ABC, CBS and several others have instituted legal action against small upstart Web site, IVI, according to Tech Week.

The lawsuit comes after the broadcasters claimed the subscription-based online service broadcasted TV shows over the Internet without their permission.

The lawsuit was filed in a New York federal court, which followed a pre-emptive strike by IVI, who brought a lawsuit against broadcasters on 20 September. The IVI lawsuit against broadcasters was brought a week after the Web site opened for business, seeking a ruling that it was not infringing any copyrights.
