Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has released EyePet, a virtual game designed for the PlayStation 3 (PS3).

EyePet is a virtual pet with technology that enables it to react to a gamer's every move. It features various capabilities, including PlayStation Eye, the next-generation camera for PS3, which captures an on-screen picture of the actual room EyePet is in. EyePet is fully aware of people in the room and will interact with them and the environment, according to Sony.

If the gamer places an object in front of the camera that EyePet hasn't seen before, it will examine it thoroughly. Users can also tickle EyePet by waving their fingers in front of the camera. The virtual pet responds realistically and can laugh and jump like a real pet as well as run after objects.

PS3 has enabled EyePet's developers to achieve life-like graphics and animation in the pet's facial reactions and intelligent interaction with people, the environment, and objects placed in front of the camera.
