IT services company SourceCom has launched a national storage division to focus on growing demand from its government, parastatal and corporate clients for specialised storage services.
The announcement follows SourceCom's accreditation as a Compaq StorageWorks partner, one of the first in South Africa, allowing it to supply and consult its clients with Compaq's range of StorageWorks enterprise storage solutions, and architect storage solutions based on StorageWorks technology.
"The popularity of the Internet has spawned a mass market for high-volume storage devices in the enterprise," says SourceCom CEO Sandra Connolly. "Where this was once the domain of larger, expensive mainframes systems, today the technology is seen more in the PC network space."
The storage division will operate across SourceCom's Cape Town HQ and its regional branches countrywide. It will initially be staffed by six qualified technicians and sales executives, and headed up by national sales manager, Mark Carrick.
"We've long recognised storage as a key component of our growth strategy, maintained at 200% year-on-year since 1997. This includes accreditation with industry partners in their specialist programs that enables our engineers to skill up staff for large projects in the public and corporate sectors.
"The storage division is a natural extension of this commitment," she concludes.
