In South Africa, tourism is one of the industries experiencing substantial growth and it is imperative that hotels commit themselves to introducing such technology to meet the future demands of local and international guests.
TTS have installed the Guestlink classic system in 10 rooms at the Johannesburg Airport Garden Court. The Guestlink system will offer guests the following facilities: guest welcome and prompt page, guest services and info, wake-up call facility, in room Internet, on screen view of billing, videos on demand and movie info, all available through a Guestlink system accessed by insertion of a pin code.
Via the in room Internet, clients can access or send their e-mail either by using their own e-mail account or by using postmail. A keyboard is provided by the hotel for guests to use. The Guestlink system allows surfing on the Internet, the same way you would on a PC.
Said Sven de Kock from Southern Sun:"The Guestlink system is the most up-to-date technology available today and the software is written specially for the hotel industry. Hotel groups throughout the world are having to fight for marketshare and it is therefore extremely important that hotels move with the times and offer their clients every facility possible."
To be able to use a television set to simply order room service or to surf the Net is a remarkable technological breakthrough. We are at present testing the system in 10 of our rooms and once we obtain feedback from our guests, we will look at the Guestlink system as the next step in our upgrading programme."
