Spatial Cellular withdraws from Third Cellular bid

Johannesburg, 12 Oct 1999

The South African Telecommunications Authority (SATRA), today received official confirmation from Spatial Cellular Consortium that they no longer wish to be considered for the Third Cellular Licence.

Spatial was scheduled to make a presentation of their bid and respond to questions over two days from Tuesday 12 to Wednesday 13 October 1999. The Consortium is one of seven bidding for the Third Cellular Licence to be awarded by the Regulator later this year. As a result of their withdrawal, the hearing was adjourned today. The process will resume on Thursday 14 October at 9:00, when SATRA will hear the presentation by the final bidder, Telenor/Telia Consortium.
