Speed is of the essence for e-business, says Oracle

Johannesburg, 15 Jun 2001

Oracle South Africa, together with its implementation partners - including Iocore, MGX, DiData and KPMG - has launched a methodology through which companies are able to speed the introduction of e-business applications throughout their organisations within 90 days.

Dubbed FastForward, the initiative is targeted at mid-sized and rapidly expanding companies. It brings together a number of Oracle`s competencies in a single, integrated offering that spans marketing, sales, service and other disciplines.

Significantly, says Craig Dawson, channel marketing manager at Oracle SA, the FastForward solution will allow its business partners to offer their clients a fully operational - although basic - online environment within 48 hours.

"Speed to market is important," he stresses. "Companies realise that `being first` with an e-business application is central to establishing a competitive-edge in the marketplace.

"With FastForward, Oracle delivers a number of key Internet business flows that facilitate the tracking of a marketing campaign right from the first mouse click on a site all the way to the final order, following the trail of leads, opportunities and quotations in the process.

"Unlike conventional offerings that only offer single point solutions, Oracle`s package provides a nine-element, robust suite of immediately operational, flexible solutions for the e-business market," he says.

"Additionally, Oracle`s `out-of-the-box` solution is able to integrate with other point solutions for cost-effective implementations with maximum return on investment at minimal risk."

Dawson reveals that figures from Oracle in the US indicate that FastForward customers log 33% fewer requests for support than do similar businesses using other products.

Oracle is offering FastForward solutions through its channel network on a fixed-price, fixed-time, fixed-scope basis.

Valerie Borthwick, senior vice president, Oracle Consulting Services, says: "During times of economic uncertainty, companies are scrutinising IT expenditure and looking for ways to boost their bottom line by lowering costs and increasing efficiency.

"Historically, companies have been run in a fragmented way, with disparate systems and software that have been customised and are now difficult to maintain.

"Oracle is helping customers simplify their businesses and standardise on Internet business practices in key areas. This helps reduce complexity and costs.

"This has been realised without sacrificing the appropriate functionality that a business needs. FastForward includes all the application modules critical to business operations and can scale up as an organisation`s needs grow."
