Spescom Software, the US arm of JSE-listed technology group Spescom, has sold UK rail management company Railtrack a program-wide software licence for the West Coast Route Modernisation programme.
Spescom says the deal, worth more than $1 million, will see Railtrack acquiring all components of Spescom's eB integrated document, configuration and records management solutions suite for the programme.
The West Coast Route Modernisation programme, regarded as Europe's largest infrastructure project, is a $15 billion upgrade of Railtrack's west coast main line, linking London with Glasgow and Edinburgh. The line is Europe's busiest train route.
Spescom CEO Carl Mostert says Railtrack is adopting the software suite to help control the huge volume of information being used by the alliance teams that are delivering more than 85 complex engineering projects as part of the upgrade.
"We plan to expand this relationship into other areas of Railtrack as more operating divisions are made aware of the benefits that are being derived by the west coast project," Mostert says.
