Spescom supplies configuration management suite to Reutech Radar

Johannesburg, 19 Apr 2005

Spescom Software (Pty) Ltd has supplied its proprietary eB product suite to Reutech Radar Systems.

Spescom Software supplies integrated document, configuration and records management (iDCR) solutions and is part of multinational technology innovator Spescom.

Reutech Radar Systems is based in Stellenbosch and provides solutions in the ground, and naval environments and operates in the air defence, air space control and air traffic control market.

According to Spescom Software regional director, sub-Saharan Africa, Jeff Bowyer, the existing EMS 2000 system was upgraded to the eB product, a complete configuration management suite.

"Reutech designs and installs multimillion-rand radar systems. At any time there are a myriad of documents, e-mails and schematics that are worked on. eB allows staff to effectively manage the information ensuring that all documentation relating to specific systems and installations is accurate and easily accessible," says Bowyer.

"eB also manages the change process, ensuring users are working off of the most current plans or documents.

"Information is stored in a central server with users accessing content through a network. Notification is sent to other users working on the same documents that changes have been made and approved."

Bowyer concludes that the key benefits of eB relate to providing decision-makers and knowledge workers with rapid access to accurate information in context.
