JSE-listed Spescom Limited has announced that its US operation, Spescom Software Inc, formerly Altris Software, Inc, has successfully completed the integration of eB, its collaborative document, configuration and records management software suite with Passport, the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) application from US-based Indus International, a leading provider of EAM solutions in more than 45 countries with offices worldwide.
The first deployment of this integrated solution is at Northeast Utilities in Connecticut in the US. Northeast Utilities is the largest energy services company in New England region of America and a leading provider of energy services and related products.
eB Indus Connect is an application from Spescom that enables Indus Passport users to work within their Indus applications while having the full eB document management back-office architecture and functionality available to meet their document and work management needs on demand. The integrated solution benefits companies by dramatically decreasing the time it takes to access and process information, which significantly lowers operating costs and improves productivity.
Spescom worked with NU and the Indus development team to ensure that the application delivers the security and functionality needed to seamlessly support the diversified business processes for an enterprise solution. eB Indus Connect supports all Indus objects, including invoices, purchase orders, work orders, material safety datasheets and inventory, to name a few. In addition, eB Indus Connect fully complies with the process workflow as defined by Indus for records and controlled documents.
Chris Baker, manager at NU, stated: "The eB Indus Connect interface enables NU to continue to work seamlessly within and share information between both Passport and eB. The ability to add data to either product and have it available immediately in the other application is core to NU's collaborative management systems approach. Moreover, NU was very pleased with Spescom's technical knowledge in developing the interface. In addition to complying with required functionality, Spescom delivered the application on budget and on time."
A powerful example of eB Indus Connect's capabilities is best demonstrated in the backend support for high volume capture of voluminous information, such as invoice processing. An accounts payable processor can enter the critical information for invoices in the Indus Accounts Payable module and then forward all the paper invoices to a centralised scanning group. The centralised scanning group can then process the invoices using high-end scanning software, and once the images are released from scanning, they are automatically and seamlessly attached. Exceptions that may occur from data entry are automatically captured and displayed in Indus Passport for resolution. The capability to attach all invoices in an automated manner by one scan operator saves time and money through increased productivity.
Carl Mostert, Spescom Software's CEO, commented: "The eB Indus Connect product is in line with Spescom's vision to provide integrated out of box solutions with various third-party business applications. This integration enables us to provide users of Indus Passport with our powerful document, configuration and records management capabilities to further improve and streamline their information management processes."
